tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20855066.post8961336242356314907..comments2023-09-20T13:32:30.933+01:00Comments on Scottish Law Reporter: Independence referendum vote fears muddle Crown Office claims of ‘ongoing’ criminal investigation into Scottish banking sectorUnknownnoreply@blogger.comBlogger1125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20855066.post-67896760340662396422012-07-05T19:01:35.377+01:002012-07-05T19:01:35.377+01:00I have a couple of questions I would like clarifie...I have a couple of questions I would like clarified?<br /><br />(1) Does the Crown Office in Edinburgh actually have a Serious & Organised Crime Division?<br /><br />My understanding is that Scotland does not have a department called this since devolution 12 years ago as this is not a devolved area of policing, which still rests with the Metropolitan Police's SOCA (Serious Organised Crime Agency)<br /><br />Does this mean that the Met's SOCA have been carrying out a police investigation and that members of the Crown Office are in some way implicated in this banking crime for choosing not to prosecute people who 'support' the Crown Office?<br /><br />(2) is it true that the police in Scotland are not independent as they are in all other parts of the UK?<br /><br />(As reported in this article)<br /><br />If this is true then then the Police are not able to act in the interests of the Scottish Public be ause by definition their operations, investigations and thoroughness can and is controlled and directed by the Crown Office which is totally unelected and totally without responsibility or scrutiny and therefore accountability?<br /><br />Thus, the Scottish People are at risk of a private organisation acting as if it is the state to act outside of the law with impunity, with no checks and balances who are capable of perpetrating miscarriages of justice against the Scottish People?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
