Request or Question I want to make a freedom of information request to find out when SBC Chief Executive xxxxxxx was signed off her duties as Chief Executive, the reason she has been signed off, who has taken over her role as Chief Executive, also if the person taking over the role is going to be paid extra, and how long Scottish Borders Council can operate with an acting Chief Executive until the position must be filled permanently.
Response I can advise that xxxxx was signed off on 14/02/12 and is ongoing. I cannot provide you with the reason why she has been signed off as this is personal information. The Council therefore relies on the exemption under Section 38(1)(b) of FOISA. The person who is Acting Chief Executive is xxxxx. The Acting Chief Executive would receive an acting allowance if the situation continues for more than four weeks and would receive this until the return of xxxxx, Chief Executive.

Mr MacAskill's handling of Mr Al-Megrahi's release does not inspire confidence in his argument for compassion. I understand the case is complex but from what I see on a Diary of Injustice, other areas of the press and Dr Jim Swire's web site and his book "The Framing of Al-Megrahi http://www.lockerbietruth.com/p/our-book.html this case stinks of corruption. I cannot help but believe Mr Al-Megrahi is Scotland's Lee Harvey Oswald, a fall guy there to protect criminals at the highest levels. Oh I am not accusing the Scottiah Legal Authorities of the bombing the would be absurd, but there is a cover up to protect those at the top. How can a man who argues "Scotland owes a great debt to lawyers" possibly be fit to hold the position of Justice Minister.

I know the legal profession can get away with just about anything and I know this from personal experience.

The 'councillor' went round the area 3 times before being stopped (It was a requirement of intervention at the time,don't know if same applies today).
Why go round a known haunt of prostitutes 3 times just to see what it was like for himself if the round & round adds to the panic & stress of residents on the street?

Today's (May 23) Herald quotes Lahor police Superintendent Saeed Omer. He says toxicology tests showed no evidence of poisoning, excessive alcohol or drugs in Mr McBride's system. He simply died of heart failure.

I find that hard to believe. A complex inquiry concerning a high profile foreign lawyer and a multi millionaire fraudster is the last thing he wanted to get involved in.

Well the Law Society of Scotland are the same a panel of judges without any jury and we see how often crooked lawyers are exonerated but of course they are looking after their friends.

How can two men be charged with the Lockerbie atrocity because they acted in concert (according to the indictment), one is found guilty and other innocent. It stinks and MacAskill wanted him out of Scotland. What I read every day on a Diary of Injustice proves the Scottish Legal Establishment are not fit for purpose. No wonder Hans Kochler refered to Scotland as a Bannana Republic, and he was one of the international observers at the Lockerbie Trial. The question is who is honest enough to oversee the appeal against this dead man's conviction?

Scotland’s Crown Office despite protests from senior officers in Lothian & Borders Police who concluded the case should have gone to trial. Prosecutors refused to give any explanation to Police or the media why they had dropped the charges against Mr Nicol.

This Crown Office a rabble of criminals like their Law Society, if your pals are in trouble don't prosecute. I have said before that the decision makers work behind the scenes, not in open courts with juries and their function is simple to politicise justice by creating difference. Now Mr Nicol is innocent until proven guilty but the Crown Office structures are a safety net for those who warrant special treatment.

When senior officers in Lothian & Borders Police concluded the case should have gone to trial, we can draw a parallel with the Law Society and the Crown Office. Oh I know not all police officers are honest, but they get prosecuted in the Courts.

Cancel religion and you cancel bigotry because many of us are indoctrinated with one ism, or another be it Catholicism, Protestantism. The churches create difference and differnce without toleration leads to sectarianism. Then parents create difference in the home.

I believe the churches like supermarkets are competitors, and freethinkers avoid them at all costs. I am amazed at how many Protestants have Catholics as their partners and vice versa, they have children with a member of the religion they detest. And when Celtic beat Rangers or vice versa many of these football supporters stop talking to their partners. They are blaming their partners for a football result they have no control over. They are not only bigots, they are also idiots.

The Scottish Government cannot eradicate this poison. Some problems politics cannot solve, even though they should try.

SNP officials were yesterday forced to apologise for selling tickets for a raffle which never took place.

The party’s Dumfries branch put a £300 scooter up as the top prize in the draw, organised by then secretary Sitki Nalci.

But they made just £60 in ticket sales so they shelved the draw and kept the cash from the tickets.

The story is revealed in today’s Dumfries & Galloway Standard, part of the Record’s Media Scotland group.

Last night, the SNP’s Dumfries branch convener Alistair Witts said: “There was no intention to defraud or deceive anybody. We’re sorry how this has turned out. It is embarrassing.”

He added the party would use their funds to buy a scooter and the draw would now go ahead.

The £1 raffle tickets were sold at an SNP stand at the Dumfries Agricultural Show last August. It was stated that the draw for the scooter would be made on Burns Night, January 25.

But nearly four months on, no winner has been announced.

A Labour spokesman in Dumfries called for a police probe and said: “It is clear the SNP are only holding the draw because they have been exposed.

“If this scandal had never been uncovered, the people who bought their raffle tickets in good faith may never have known there was not a draw.”

First Minister Alex Salmond's parliamentary aide has issued an apology to MSPs for showing disrespect to parliament.

Backbench MSP Joan McAlpine failed to turn up in the chamber during her ministerial questions slot.

She was spotted having lunch with Mr Salmond in the parliamentary restaurant shortly before Presiding Officer Tricia Marwick issued her rebuke.

It was the sixth time Ms McAlpine has missed a chamber speaking appearance.

The South of Scotland SNP MSP told the chamber she had "lost track of time" and promised to reflect on her behaviour.

Ms McAlpine had been due in the chamber on Thursday afternoon to ask ministers about cases of osteoarthritis and its impact on the NHS, during themed question time.

But her failure to turn up resulted in a ticking off from the presiding officer, who demanded an apology.

For lunch in the parliamentary restaurant, Ms McAlpine was understood to have had smoked venison with Strathdon blue cheese dressing and poached red wine pear, followed by breast of Scottish chicken with grilled asparagus chorizo, olives and parma ham.
